ABOUT McKenzie -  Richmond, Virginia Family Photographer

My gift is being able to capture the simple beauty that already exists within your family and create pieces of art you can cherish forever..

I was born and raised in Louisiana, but when I became an adult, I moved around the country: studying, working, teaching, and eventually, mothering.

When I became a mom, I quickly realized how quickly the days and weeks passed and wanted nothing more than to freeze time. I believe photos allow me to come pretty close to doing so. I LOVE capturing real, candid, moments of my kids. The ones that aren't necessarily picture-perfect, but ones that perfectly depict them as they are in the now.

My hope is that you will allow me to capture the moment so that it is yours to cherish forever. I promise that I will approach the family photos that I take of you and your family with the same time and love as I have with my own.

QUICK FACTS

FOR THE SKIMMERS

MY FAVORITE SUBJECTS

1.

My biggest priority when taking your family's photos is for you to have a gallery filled with images that reflect how you see your own family right now. We'll get those photos of you all looking at the camera, but for the most part my prompts will pull out the emotion and love that exists among family members.

My aim is to capture connection, not perfection

2.

I know how scary and vulnerable it can feel to be in front of a camera. I try to get my photos taken at least two times a year by different photographers so that I can be reminded of that very fact and taught how to relieve any anxiety you might feel. My main priority is to make you feel comfortable and beautiful throughout the entire process.

I know what it feels like to be on your side of the camera

3.

Trust me, don't worry about your kids. They can cry, they can yell, and they can tell me all the bribes they've been given. I've seen it. I've done it.

But let me worry about them. You only worry about being in the moment and enjoying your time with them. A kid has never ruined my session before.

I'm a mom. I've seen it all.
